Kontentsu Ramen in South Pasadena, CA, offers a delightful selection of ramen dishes, crafted with mouthwatering rich broths and fresh ingredients
There’s something undeniably joyful about a steaming bowl of delicious ramen. For me, it just hits the spot. I’ve enjoyed ramen off the streets of Tokyo at Ichiran Shimbashi and in the comforts of Los Angeles at Killer Noodle on Sawtelle Blvd. There’s just something about the rich, savory broth that warms me from the inside out, while the perfectly chewy noodles invite me to take that next delightful slurp.
One of my favorite spots in Eagle Rock, Modan Ramen, was recently sold. The family, owning a few other ramen shops in the area, redesigned the remaining ones and renamed them to Kontentsu Ramen.
So, when it was time to meet Jeremy to catch up after a few months, I suggested the low key vibe but delicious food of Kontentsu.
I ordered the KIMCHI (spicy pork bone broth infused with sautéed kimchi with braised pork chashu) ramen and gave Jeremy my egg. I also, per my usual preference, ordered extra seaweed.
It was everything delicious I loved abut Modan – but with much better parking. We both absolutely loved what we ordered. The fat juicy pieces of pork hit the spot. One order was enough to take home half of it for leftovers.
Even better? Jeremey loved that I introduced him to yet another awesome spot in Los Angeles. And that always makes me smile.
