Hygge Hearth

Hygge Hearth in Sheridan serves excellent coffee and house-made pastries in a cozy café accented with local artwork

As my time in Sheridan came to a close, I packed up my things with just one last adventure on my mind: breakfast.

Scrolling through the “Suggested Things to Do” list in my Airbnb – The McCann Flat Airbnb in Sheridan, Wyoming – one note stood out:

“Hygge Hearth – Small coffee shop serving my favorite roaster and pastries.”

That was all the encouragement I needed. Though they were closed on Tuesday, I made sure to stop by first thing Wednesday morning before heading out of town.

I was genuinely interested. Not just for the coffee, but to see how the idea of how the Scandinavian sense of cozy comfort would be expressed in a cafe in Wyoming.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the warmth of the space. Beautiful carefully curated local artwork lined the walls. Which made the connection to community clear.

Approaching the coffee bar, I couldn’t help but admire the clean, thoughtful presentation. It was simple but artful, with every element feeling intentional. I ordered a Matcha Latte with pumps of white chocolate and lavender syrup with a bacon and cheddar scone.

As I drove up to Montana toward the Billings Airport, I absolutely delighted in everything. In fact the bacon and cheddar scone was one of the best, fluffiest and most tasty scones I’d had in recent memory.

Though brief, my visit to Hygge Hearth was a perfect final note to my Sheridan trip: warm, grounded, and quietly beautiful.
