After dining at the acclaimed The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, California, I already had a sense of the elevated standard and thoughtful hospitality that defines the Auberge Resorts Collection – on par with the likes of Aman and Rosewood. So when I planned a visit to Susurros del Corazón in Punta de Mita, my expectations were high.

From the moment we arrived, those expectations were not just met – they were surpassed. As we exited our Uber, we were warmly welcomed by Victor, who immediately made us feel at home. As he led us down to Casa Milpa, he offered a mini tour of the resort, highlighting its natural beauty and stunning architecture.

By sunset, it was nothing short of breathtaking.

Dinner at Casa Milpa was not just a meal – it was an experience for the senses.
Our server, Richy, was exceptional. He knew the menu inside and out and guided us through our selections with care.

To begin, I ordered the TEMAZCAL (Mezcal danzantes blanco, aperol, ancho reyes verde, jugo de piña y toronja tatemada).
It was the perfect way to ease into the evening.

A beautifully crafted amuse-bouche arrived shortly after, as exquisite to look at as it was to taste.
For our starter, we chose the TUNA TARTARE (avocado, ikura, habanero, red onion, pear, pine nuts dill aioli).
It was light, flavorful, and perfectly timed with the golden glow of the setting sun.
When it came time for a second cocktail, I gave Richy a few flavor notes I was craving. Instead of guessing, he called the bartender over to consult. After a quick conversation, the bartender returned with what he dubbed the KIMBERLY SPECIAL (Mezcal Union Viejoa, green chartreuse, house made bitters).
It paired beautifully with our shared main course: RIB EYE (12 oz steak, local herb gremolata, charred bell pepper) and TRUFFLE FRENCH FRIES.

I can’t even lie – I wanted a second stomach to eat even more. It was that outstandingly delicious.
Just when we thought the experience had peaked, Richy surprised us with a sweet finale: CHURROS (tequila chocolate sauce and mezcal caramel sauce). It was rich, indulgent, and completely unforgettable.
This is what I considered my birthday meal, to cumulate my time in Nayarit. It was outstanding.

As we waited for our Uber back to the Conrad Punta de Mita, Victor met with us again and gave me a complimentary can of Corona Light, chilled and ready to enjoy in the summer night.
Dinner at Casa Milpa, paired with the warmth and beauty of the Susurros del Corazón resort, was the perfect close to a memorable stay in Mexico.
