Cosette Wine Bar

Cosette Wine Bar in Studio City pairs curated wines with small plates in a casual yet refined setting

When Asia mentioned that she’d visited Cosette Wine Bar, located on the roof of Rolling Greens in Studio City, I was extremely interested. She raved about the wine bar, stating that it was such a cute, well designed concept of a wine bar. And, as I love Rolling Greens and have purchased a few plants from their locations in the Valley, I looked forward to seeing what the wine bar would do to the upstairs area.

Since my partner and I had some time before our reservation at UOVO | Studio City, I suggested that we head to Cosette Wine Bar. After all, why stand around idly when you can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy a bit of conversation? I’d much rather settle into a comfortable seat and savor the anticipation of dinner with something nice in hand.

Climbing the stairs to the rooftop, I was pleased with how thoughtfully Cosette Wine Bar had utilized the existing Rolling Greens space. The atmosphere was stylish and inviting. Admittedly, maneuvering around a large party to get to our table was mildly annoying, but once we were seated, I could finally exhale and enjoy the ambiance.

Our server greeted us warmly and shared her recommendations for red wines that evening, describing each option’s flavor profile in helpful detail. However, when I asked to try a small taste of each before deciding, she explained that they weren’t offering tastings because they didn’t have the glassware. That struck me as quite odd—after all, it’s a wine bar. Curious, I asked if they usually offered tastings or if this was a standard policy, but the answer didn’t quite clarify things. Ultimately, I decided not to press further and simply chose one.

Because, it’s a wine bar.

I found it a bit odd that she was stating that the consumer was just supposed to blindly trust the server and not actually taste the wine before making their choice. But, hey – I didn’t want to pointlessly argue for the same result.

Luckily, the glass of Julien Cruchandeau “Bouzeron” – Aligoté – Bourgogne, FR 2023 I enjoyed was good.

Overall, Cosette Wine Bar was a decent spot to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner, offering a lovely rooftop view filled with lush greenery and a cozy aesthetic. While the lack of being able to compare two wines for tastings felt like a missed opportunity for a place that prides itself on its wine experience, I still appreciated the atmosphere and the chance to chill a bit before our meal.
