Breakfast at Mr Maurice's Restaurant at the Ace Hotel Kyoto offered a culturally rich, deliciously prepared start to the day
Honestly, I’m happy that I added breakfast to my reservation when I booked our stay at the Ace Hotel Kyoto. Located Mr. Maurice’s Italian Restaurant on the third floor, it was easy to access in the main building.
The floor to ceiling view in the main dining area was breath giving. It seamlessly blended the inside with the outside of nature.
The first day, I enjoyed the CONTINENTAL SET for breakfast (Assorted Cured Meats and Cheese, Marinated Salmon, Cornichons, Yogurt Parfait with House Granola, Mixed Green, Seasonal Fruits, Bread Basket (Pain De Campagne, Whole Grain Bread, Croissant).
The second breakfast, I enjoyed the JAPANESE BREAKFAST (Grilled Miso Marinated Salmon, Hot Spring Egg, Obanzai, Rice, Miso Soup, Japanese Pickles)
The SEASONAL FRUIT BOWL WITH GINGER MINT SYRUP was also beautifully done and a dish I would highly recommend.
I also found myself in a rather mentally invigorating conversation with another fellow patron from South Korea about Japanese imperialism and inner Asian culture racism. It’s interesting to realize that – as also within the black culture – the same stratification exists.
You never know when you’ll have the most interesting conversations.
