After lingering in the cozy vibe of Hub Coffee Roasters and walking the riverwalk of the Truckee River, cappuccino in hand, I was ready for something more substantial. After Sonni’s stellar coffee recommendation, I followed her next tip and made my way to Beloved’s Bakery and Cafe.

The space was warm and welcoming, with the kind of artisanal charm that feels both intentional and effortlessly cool. The aroma of fresh bread and buttery pastry filled the air, and every item behind the glass looked like it belonged on the cover of a food magazine.

I saw the MUFFULETTA SANDWICH (capicola, soppressata, mortadella, provolone, olive tapenade) getting freshly made, sliced and placed it in the window. Immediately, I looked at it and thought: “breakfast“. It looked scrumptious.

Next up, based on Sonni’s enthusiastic recommendation – almost demand – I also got the PAIN SUISSE (cross laminated w/pastry cream & chocolate batons).

I ate these while driving to South Lake Tahoe. The pastry was flaky, rich, and just sweet enough. it was the kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite to appreciate the craft behind it. The sandwich was bold, savory, and unapologetically indulgent.

My picnic to go was absolutely perfect.
