Wrapping up my adventures through Colorado, I knew I wanted something warm and grounding to start my final morning. Yes, I wanted just one last moment to linger. But also, I needed food just in case I didn’t make it to the American Express lounge at the airport. I wanted a breakfast that gave me a sense of place – in Boulder – and could serve as a nourishing punctuation mark at the end of the trip.
A quick search near the Moxy Boulder led me to Alpine Modern Café.
Parking and walking up, I immediately noticed that the location of Alpine Modern Cafe was beautiful.
Ordering at the counter, I got the SALTED HONEY LATTE (sea salt, honey, espresso, milk) and the HAM & GRUYERE MELT (brioche bun. smoked ham melted gruyere, arugula, dijon mustard, aioli).
Taking in the artwork and listening to the sounds of the morning around me, It was the perfect start to my day of travel back to the California coast.
On the drive over, I passed a cemetery. It caught me off guard for a moment. But frankly, not in a morbid way. It reminded me, with a gentle visual, that life is short. There’s a lot to do in the dashes between you birth date and death date. It was time for me to savor the coffee; book the trip and simply – enjoy.
