After a pleasant meal at Vietnamese Noodle House, there was one more spot that I wanted to make before I shuffled my way in the -25 weather back up to The Explorer Hotel. Amanda told me that she’d gone to the Yellowknife Visitor Centre for a cute little souvenir: a little yellow knife pin with a certificate.
So naturally, I visualized warmth and success and then walked over to the mall. Once there, I walked inside and was greeted by vibrant displays of history, art and friendly faces.

At first, the space was swamped by a tourist group. But, I found my vibe and began to look around. It was lovely to be in the space and get a sense of what it meant to be from Yellowknife and the history of the place.

I also enjoyed the 3D movie about the aurora borealis – Aurora Boreallis 3D by Ikuo Nakamura – that I found absolutely fascinating and truly beautifully done.

Overall, it was a beautiful arrangement of history, contemporary art and fun. And it gave me something to do before I made my trek back to The Explorer Hotel.
