The Alchemist Brewery

The Alchemist Brewery is a Stowe craft brewery renowned for Heady Topper and its influence on the New England style hazy IPA movement

I first heard about the Alchemist Brewery while in Albany during a previous trip to upstate New York. While at both Fidens Brewing and Tipsy Moose Tap & Tavern, both bartenders recommended that I head up to The Alchemist Brewery. They both separately raved about the beer and the overall vibe of the space.  So, after snowboarding at Sugarbush Resort, I finally made my way to The Alchemist Brewery.

Arriving during sunset, I was so happy with the ambiance. I walked around and happily didn’t fall as I appreciated the ice sculptures.

Entering the brewery, I absolutely loved the lively, community spirit vibe.

There was only one thing I could get on draft – and only one thing that mattered: the Hand Pulled Heady Topper – The Alchemist’s flagship double IPA.

I spoke to the bartender that poured my glass about his favorite beer when he’s not at work. Without hesitation, he mentioned Freak Folk Bier Brewery. As it was close to Gallus Handcrafted Pasta, my dinner restaurant, I made a mental note to head over.

As I settled into my seat, I slowed down and let the experience sink in. The space was thoughtfully designed, lively but not chaotic, and filled with people who clearly appreciated great beer.

Even though my visit was brief, I felt genuinely satisfied to be there. Along with my previous visit to Lawson’s Finest Liquids, I loved my foray into Vermont beer landscape.
