After an exhausting day that included discovering someone had stolen my front license plate and replaced it with another, dealing with a former friend’s passive-aggressive attempts to manipulate their way back into my life, nearly being run off the 14 freeway by a truck that drifted into my lane, and maintaining my professional demeanor while greeting potential buyers during an open house for my listing—I was completely drained.
When I asked Terrin where I should go for a quiet, comforting evening for a table for one, he immediately recommended Hanasaki Sushi.
After finishing up an incident report at my local Los Angeles police station, I was in desperate need of an escape. So, I drove to Hanasaki Sushi, just for pleasure of self love.
After being seated, I browsed the menu. Immediate, I took a deep breath and tried to relax into the moment.
I immediately ordered a Miso soup with a Sapporo.
Slowly, I felt myself coming back to life.
The rolls looked enticing and absolutely delicious. So, I order the Carbon Roll (Inside: Spicy Tuna, Snow Crab, Cucumber. Top: Bluefin Tuna, Albacore, Salmon, House-Made Chili Garlic, Lime, Sesame Seeds)….
The Red White and Bluefin (Lime Zest, Yellowtail, Cucumber / Top: Bluefin, Yellowtail, Garlic Soy, Garlic Chips)…
and the Steven Roll (Spicy Yellowtail, Scallion, Cucumber Top: Snapper, Serrano, Red Yuzu, Soy Tare, Micro Cilantro). Along with the FRESH GRATED WASABI (Freshly Grated to Order – from Nagano, Japan).
Everything was exactly what I needed. And when Terrin was able to join me and just talk everything out, I realized – yet again – the brilliant power of friendships that truly enrich my life.
