Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca Airport

Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca provides a comfortable, convenient stay within the boundaries of Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport

I knew I wanted to buffer the severe time difference between Los Angeles and Europe by adjusting before the official start of my tour of Morocco (A 10 Day Moroccan Adventure with Kim Larkin Adventures). My friend Amy arranged to fly in from Baltimore to meet me for two nights in Paris at Hotel Eldorado Paris, giving me a soft landing and a little pre tour adventure.

I also wanted a day in Casablanca on my own. I wanted to take time to fully feel what it meant to step onto a new continent for the first time. But because both the culture and location were completely new to me, I needed a hotel that was clean, comfortable, easy to reach, and would make joining the tour as seamless as possible.

After I messaged Kim for guidance, she recommended Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca Airport.

Check In

Arriving at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, I did my best not to look completely lost while searching for the Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca Airport shuttle. It turns out the shuttle is shared and waits just outside Terminal 2. When I reached the Navette Shuttle post, the van thankfully pulled up in relatively short order.

Check-in was straightforward. Since my room was still being refreshed, I was invited to relax in the Saint Exupéry Bar with a complimentary cup of piping hot mint tea. It was the perfect welcome after a long travel day.

Not long after, I was notified that my room was ready. A quick check in later, I grabbed my bags and was escorted upstairs to settle in.

Room and Stay

Overall, the room was completely fine and acceptable for one night.

Dining

Dining was also fine. At the hotel restaurant – l’Helice Restaurant – I had chicken for dinner the first night.

And the buffet breakfast the next morning.

Overall

Overall, the hotel worked for what I needed at the time. Since it was my first visit to both Morocco and Casablanca, I wanted a place that was easy to reach, predictable, and wouldn’t add any stress. For that purpose, Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca Airport was fine.

However, I also got stalked by a taxi driver when I attempted to use the iNDRIVE app (How I Got Stalked By a Taxi in Casablanca When I Tried to Use iNDRIVE). A taxi driver drove behind me, following me from the hotel and to the store that my drive arranged for me to meet them out. And then, the taxi driver would not leave me alone. He got out of his car, came into the store and yelled at me in Arabic. Then in stuttered English. And then finally - after realizing - after an hour - that it was worthless to harass me more because I wasn’t getting into his taxi - left.

I would have been better off staying closer to the city center. Getting to my Airbnb Experiences tour: Casablanca Walking Tour: History & Landmarks by Airbnb Experiences ended up being more complicated than it needed to be.

Denise stayed at Art Palace Suites & Spa – Casablanca, and when Kamal pulled our Sprinter up to the entrance, I immediately thought, THIS is where I should have stayed. It was gorgeous, and she raved about how she absolutely loved her room.

Cinderella – the young woman who shared a taxi with me into the city – stayed at ONOMO Hotel Casablanca City Center, which was also modern, vibrant, and well-located.

Later, when Denise’s flight was delayed out of Marrakesh, she returned to Casablanca and stayed at the Marly Boutique Hotel – Casablanca.

Ultimately, it comes down to preference and pre-trip goals. Atlas Sky Casa is perfectly fine for one night.

But because I wanted to experience more of Casablanca, the transportation costs added up quickly – about $60 round trip to and from the city (typical $30 USD / 300 MAD one-way ride from the airport into town).

If I could redo the start of my trip, I would choose a hotel in Casablanca proper. Still, for a simple overnight stay, Atlas Sky Casa – Casablanca Airport did exactly what it needed to do: provide me a comfortable space to sleep during my first night in Morocco.
