Alex and I walked with his dog down the short stretch of road downhill to Joshua Tree Saloon Bar & Grill. Now, the Joshua Tree Saloon gets busy. I knew that as I walked inside and got us on the list for a proper seat on the inner patio. The place was packed and absolutely lively. As I was told that the wait would be a decent one, I went to the bar and got us drinks.
Comparing the different beers, I ordered a pint of the Coachella Valley Brewing Company’s J.T. IPA (7% ABV – American IPA).
Now, the wait – was – substantial. It got to the point where an hour passed and we were noticing our hunger level increasing. That, combined with the heat of the day turning into night – was a perfect simmering storm.
Kindly, another table noticed our waiting and gave us their side order of fries. They ordered appetizers, for faster kitchen service. This is perhaps what saved our sanity.
When my HATCH CHILI ½ LB BURGER (A ½ lb Angus Steak patty topped w/Flame Roasted chopped Hatch Chilies, Pepper Jack Cheese, lettuce, tomato, & red onion, served on a toasted bun) I knew that it would be larger than I could enjoy in one sitting. So, I had a few bites and enjoyed some more of the fries before calling it and packing the rest to enjoy the following day.
The next day – after exploring the beauty of Joshua Tree National Park and returning back to the Airbnb – the rest of my burger was the perfect amount of protein to calm my hunger from the heat.
