Flying Ace Kitchen + Taproom at Sonoma County Airport serves local food and drinks in a casual, traveler-friendly setting
After a relaxing morning at Osmosis Day Spa and a satisfying breakfast at Wild Flour Bread, a few minor annoyances at the Santa Rosa Airport had me craving a bite to eat before my flight.
The plan was simple: grab a quick snack. I found a seat, waited a bit, and eventually waved down a server to place an order.
I went with the KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN WINGS (Sweet & spicy gochujang sauce, toasted peanuts, scallions and toasted sesame seeds) and FRIES.
The food was decent. The service? Not so much. As my boarding time crept closer, I kept glancing around, trying to figure out what exactly my server was doing – because it certainly wasn’t checking on tables.
Eventually, I realized I had to take matters into my own hands. I got up, found someone who actually seemed to care, and asked for my check. That person flagged down my original server, who handed me a bill with a QR code.
Of course, the code didn’t support my preferred payment method. So she brought over a handheld device instead. I paid and I left, glad to be done.
All in all, it was a forgettable stop – just a way to kill time before takeoff.
