In all my visits to Sonoma County, there is one place that has remained on my list: Korbel California Champagne Cellars. I’d driven by it repeatedly. But, this time, I was determined to stop, hopefully tour and enjoy a tasting.
As I made my way from AutoCamp Sonoma and down the road to make the morning tasting, that was my intent. However, once I arrived, I found out that there were no tours available that day.

Undeterred, I took pleasure in the fact that I was the first visitor of the day and picked out and ordered a tasting flight.

Blanc de Blanc (Crisp and bright with subtle toasty notes)

Pinot Gris Champagne (Lesty and light with good acidity)

Moscato (Honeysuckle and ripe fruit notes)

I relished the beauty of the early morning on the patio. Overlooking the vineyard, I felt such a sense of peace. I tried reading on my Kindle. But, got distracted by people arriving and influencers taking their customary photos.

Honestly, I enjoyed my wine selections. It was nice to check off visiting Korbel California Champagne Cellars off my “to try list” and try some of their non regularly available expressions.
But, the real star of the show – besides a morning wine tasting? Sitting on the patio, finishing up my last sips of Moscato – before picking up my pre-ordered sandwich from Korbel Delicatessen & Market.
Absolutely delicious.
