As we planned the final activity to wrap up our weekend in Mammoth Lakes, one adventure remained on our to-do list: a visit to Woolly’s Adventure Summit to experience the mountain coaster.
I’d watched a few videos beforehand and had a good sense of what to expect. Ski goggles were a no-brainer—essential for protecting my eyes from the wind so I could fully enjoy the views without battling tears. Gloves also seemed like a smart choice to keep my hands warm during the ride. But what excited me most was the promise of pure, unfiltered fun.
Arriving at the Summit was a breeze. Parking was plentiful, and after a quick stroll to the entrance and printing our passes, we were ready to go.

As we approached the coaster, my excitement skyrocketed. Without any wait, I was secured in my sled, and the ascent to the top began.

The climb was peaceful and serene, lasting about seven minutes. As I was pulled uphill, I soaked in the stunning alpine scenery. Towering trees lined the track, the snow glittered under the sun, and the quiet anticipation of what lay ahead made the moment even more special.
When I reached the summit, I did a quick check-in with the operator, who gave me the green light. Then it was time to go.
This. Was. FUN!
The downhill track stretched over 5,455 feet, packed with twists, turns, and exhilarating drops. Speeds reached up to 25 mph, and the combination of sharp curves and smooth dips had me laughing, cheering, and shouting “woo-hoo!” all the way down.
With my goggles shielding my eyes from the wind, I felt like I was soaring. The ability to control my speed added an extra layer of comfort, letting me go full throttle on the straights and ease up on the sharper turns.
And just like that, the ride was over—much quicker than I wanted but absolutely worth it. The breathtaking views, the rush of speed, and the crisp mountain air made the mountain coaster an unforgettable experience.
Afterward, we made our way to the cozy snow chalet across from the mountain coaster, where the warmth of a crackling fireplace welcomed and warmed us back up to room temperature.

It’s the perfect way to cap off a trip to Mammoth Lakes, and one I’ll be dreaming about until the next time.
