The Trails – Griffith Park

Tucked at the base of Griffith Park, The Trails Cafe blends rustic charm with fresh pastries, artisan coffee, and a relaxed woodland vibe

There’s something about lunch with Adam that always guarantees a story. On this particular afternoon, he picked a Los Angeles style picnic lunch beneath the sycamores at the Trails Cafe, tucked into a sun dappled area of Griffith Park.

I hadn’t realized just how hungry I was until I demolished the SNAKE-DOG (all beef hot dog wrapped in puff pastry with side of fruit) in a few quick bites. It was warm, savory, and satisfying, though in hindsight, a swipe of mustard might’ve taken it to the next level. The accompanying fruit – juicy and sweet –  were a simple delight.

To sip, my STRAWBERRY LEMONADE was tangy, cool, and refreshing on a mellow day outdoors.

And for dessert, Adam and I split the LAVENDER SHORTBREAD, which surprised me in the best way: soft and tender rather than crisp, with a delicate floral note that lingered just so.

As we sat and relaxed, we watched squirrels bicker, hikers pass by in unique clothing choices, and let ourselves be fully present in nature.

And in a world that rarely slows down, that felt like more than enough.
