The Pawn Shop was a unique and rather fun speakeasy style bar and restaurant in San Francisco, California
I don’t know how I first discovered The Pawn Shop. But, on my last night in San Francisco, I found myself on my way from the Hilton San Francisco Union Square to the Theater District of San Francisco.
Entering the lobby, I was asked if I had anything to trade. As I read up that you could tell a joke and they’d still have to let you in – that’s what I did.
I told a joke. The hostess smirked and let me in.
I took a seat at the bar and browsed the menu.
With a glass of wine, I began.
I started with the CROQUETAS DE POLLO (Chicken croquettes with tarragon mustard aioli). As I greatly enjoy croquettes, this was a delight.
I continued with the GAMBAS AL AJILLO (Poached shrimps, garlic, smoked paprika, toasted bread). Again, absolutely delicious.
As a main course, I savored the CARNE A LA PLANCHA CON MIGAS (Seared hanger steak, croutons, salsa verde).
Overall, it was a lovely time. The food was vibrant and delicious.
I truly enjoyed sitting at the bar, conversing with the bartenders and greatly enjoyed dinner.
