The Mallard Lounge

The Mallard Lounge at the Fairmont Whistler is the standard to what all bars in the Fairmont chain should be like.

One of the specials for signing up for Accord’s loyalty program was a welcome drink voucher for the Mallard Lounge upon check in. It was – in my opinion – quite a way to welcome guest in a pleasant way.

My time at the Mallard Lounge was short – but oh so very sweet. The space at the Lounge was comfortably full – but not overly done. It was tastefully designed in a Canadian mountains meets wood decor ambiance. It was warm and inviting, with friendly bartenders that were actually helpful in selecting drinks.

While sitting at the bar, I ordered the 50 SHADES OF BLUE (Blue Cheese Infused Hendricks Gin, Pére Magloire V.S. Calvados, Almond Orgeat Syrup, Apricot Brandy, Lemon, Orange, Egg White with Port Poached Figs).

Now, I knew that this drink was fancy, based on the price. But, I will say, it truly felt luxurious. The overall mouth feel was rich on the tongue. It was one of the most unique and interesting drinks I’ve had the pleasure of savoring. It was filling – for sure.

Sitting at the bar, conversing with the bartender about hidden facts about Vancouver and getting tips on local activities like Vallea Lumina, I almost didn’t want to leave. However, as check out was at 4pm ( Thanks to booking through Amex Travel), a very good thing had to come to an end.
