Thalys Lounge, Brussels

The Thalys Lounge in Brussels was a decent place to relax while waiting for my train to The Netherlands

It’s not in the station. It’s across the street, across from the Brussel’s Railway building. Honestly, It’s simply a comfortable place to rest, sit and enjoy free wifi before your train gets posted on the big board at Brussels-Midi.

As I arrived a bit early from my stay at The Hoxton, Brussels to catch my train to the Netherlands, I simply wanted a place to rest and be away from large crowds. As my train track location hadn’t been released yet, I didn’t want to wander around Brussels Midi like a silly goose. I quickly walked up to smartly dressed Belgium train staff member, asked if he spoke English (honestly, it’s Brussels – you’d be surprised) and asked where the lounge was.

He winked at me and quickly got me on my way.

Once I arrived, I confirmed that my premium ticket for the day’s train got me complimentary access to the lounge. Happily, it did. Once settled, I was able to use a clean bathroom and decompress from my whirlwind of two nights in Brussels.

Don’t come in here expecting it to be an American Express Centurion lounge and you won’t be disappointed. Also, the international train boarding is directly across, at the south side of Brussels-Midi.
