Midway through The Road to Marrakech: Atlas Studios, Aït Benhaddou, Tribal Carpet Cooperative and Argan Tichka, Rachid led the group to lunch in Aït Benhaddou.

Here, we were introduced to the restaurant, Tawesna by Laila. When Laila – the head chef and owner of the restaurant – introduced herself to us, she explained that the word meant “knowledge.”
To start, we were served sliced triangles of Khobz bread.

Alongside, the Moroccan Salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, green pepper) was delicious.

The Moroccan Eggplant and Beef was something that I’d looked forward to trying at home.

The main dish of Chicken Tagine (chicken, carrots, potatoes, green beans) was outstanding.

The meal finished with a Bowl of Fruit (banana, oranges).

It was truly beautiful to meet Laila, share in the experience of a woman owned business in Morocco and enjoy such delicious culinary delights on the road to Marrakesh.
Plus, it was lovely to capture moments with Rachid and his cousin – our driver – Kamal.
