Taste of The Caribbean L.A.

Taste of The Caribbean LA offers a culturally rich, vibrant menu filled with Caribbean delights in the heart of Hollywood, California

After meeting Amara during my regular massage appointments at The Now massage studio (which was recommended by my dear friend Jonelle), we connected in real life over our now once a month lunch outings. As I chose our last lunch meetup at Sushi Yuzo in Toluca Lake, it was her turn to pick. Delightfully, she suggested that we meet up at Taste of The Caribbean L.A..

When I walked in, I was so pleased with the decor and the vibe.

For lunch, I ordered the JERK SALMON (Pan seared chilean salmon, perfectly seasoned and finished with sweet and spicy jerk sauce) with the MAUBY (Filtered Water, Mauby Bark, Agave, Cinnamon, Cloves, Bay Leaves, Cumin, and Vanilla Extract).

We also ordered the PLANTAINS to share.

The Jerk Salmon was good. However – and I need to be honest – the Mauby drink tasted like – bark. It was extremely Earthy and left a unique taste on my tongue. On the other hand, Amara said that her SEA MOSS SMOOTHIE (Filtered Water, Sea Moss, Almond Milk, Raw Almonds, Peanuts, Granola, Agave, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Vanilla Extract) was delicious.

For dessert, I ordered a slice of the RED VELVET CAKE.

I didn’t realize it, but it had actually been years since I’d enjoyed a slice of red velvet cake. The classic cream cheese frosting brought back so many happy memories of me baking cakes for my parents to taste and try.

Overall, my experience at Taste of The Caribbean LA was delicious. Plus, it was nice to discuss acting, Mexico City, and traveling with a like minded, adventurous soul.
