Sqirl’s minimalist Silver Lake café dishes inventive seasonal breakfast and lunch in a casual setting

I hadn’t seen Sefora since saying goodbye to her in Tahiti, before I left to Bora Bora. So, it had been much too long, to say the lease. So, when she texted and asked if I was free for lunch, later in the day, I immediately thought of Sqirl.

Yes, I remember the moldy jam era of the first wave of the pandemic. However, I was curious. As it has been since 2016 since I’d first visited Sqirl with Sara, had it improved? Was the jame still moldy? I wanted to find out.

Meeting up with Sefora was, as always, a lesson in joy. It’s so lovely that me taking an acting class last year resulted in such a soul connection.

Setting in to the menu, I ordered the Vanilla Bean Limeade along with the Jamon Pepín (house ham, Comté, herbed Beurre de Baratte butter, mustard, radish on Clark St. baguette) with a side KALE SALAD. When it arrived, I was impressed – everything looked good.

As we updated each other on our lives, we ate and enjoyed our lunches. I was surprised to enjoy my sandwich as much as I did. It was well thought out and tasty.

As we said our goodbyes, I was more than appreciative of the simple pleasures that following my intuition has led me toward.
