Sometimes, I just don’t want to cook. And on those nights, a chill dinner at a local taco spot feels like the perfect answer. Roadside Taco fits that desire, deliciously. It’s casual without trying too hard. And – most importantly – as delicious as it is visually fun.

We grabbed a booth inside and quickly got down to the important business of reviewing the menu. Everything sounded good: vibrant, bold, made with that just-off-the-grill energy you want from a neighborhood taco joint.

I decided to go for the TRES (Pick 3 Tacos – Comes with Rice and Beans). It was the best kind of decision: no narrowing down necessary, just more chances to try different flavors.

For my trio, I had the: COCONUT SHRIMP TACO (Crispy Coconut Shrimp, Sweet Agave Slaw, Pineapple, Chipotle Aioli, Pickled Fresno Pepper, Flour Tortilla). The pickled Fresno peppers added just enough heat to balance the sweetness of the mix.

The FRIED FISH TACO (Battered Cod Fish, Jalapeño Aioli, Pico De Gallo, Cabbage, Flour Tortilla) tasted like a classic, done exactly right.

And the CARNE ASADA TACO (Marinated Steak, Salsa Arbol, Onion, Cilantro, Avocado Salsa, Corn Tortilla) was hearty, satisfying, and still left me wanting more.

Of course, no taco night is complete without a few extras. I added a side of SALSA MOLCAJETE and  SALSA VERDE, which made everything on the plate even better. We also split the GUACAMOLE AND CHIPS. It was  simple, fresh, and impossible to stop eating.

My MARGARITA was also a delight. A refreshing combination of tart and sweetness that went down easy.

At Roadside Taco, the vibe is unpretentious and easy. It’s simply perfect for nights that focus on good food, good drinks, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere I love.
