Morimoto Maui

Lunch at Morimoto Maui at Andaz Maui At Wailea Resort was a delicious introduction to the fresh sushi and quality cuisine of Maui, Hawaii

After checking in our suite at Hotel Wailea, we wanted to eat something light – but filling. After a few minutes of searching, I compared Oao – Sushi Bar & Grill at Wailea to a few choices. However, once I saw that there was a Morimoto in Weilea, I immediately remembered my fantastic time at Morimoto Napa.

Combined with the fact that I preferred a restaurant with a view, and we were quickly on our way via the Hotel Wailea chauffeured Land Rover Defender.

The Morimoto Maui is located at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort – a Concept by Hyatt, at the bottom of the pool area, with a wonderful view of the ocean. Once we arrived, we were quickly seated and attended to.

Our waiter was attentive, extremely helpful in suggesting dishes and – most delightful of all – humorous. He made us laugh as we carefully browsed the menu for selections.

I started with a lovely cup of green tea. It internally warmed my body up to the vibes of Maui.

Which was significantly warmer than the cold winter sun of Los Angeles.

The STICKY RIBS (hoisin sweet chili glaze, cilantro, chili threads) came out first.

It was here that I was reminded of the outstanding taste and quality of the Morimoto brand. It was simply love at first bite. The vibes were on point and the tender, fall off the bone ribs were delicious.

Next up, was the TOFU MISO (white miso broth, silken tofu).

The tofu miso was pipping hot and warmed my body.

Next came the full platter of SPICY SALMON ROLL (salmon, scallion, spicy sauce), NEGIHAMACHIMAKI (yellowtail, scallion) and NEGITOROMAKI (chopped toro, scallion).

All was absolutely delicious.

Still a bit hungry after our plate, I ordered the CALIFORNIA ROLL (crab, cucumber, avocado).

Which was – of course – delicious.

During the course of lunch, we noticed a few people gathered on a grassy knoll, pointing toward the Pacific Ocean. After finishing up at Morimoto Maui, we walked to the beach overlook to see what was going on.

We were delighted as we watched Humpback whales breaching off the coast.

It was absolutely perfect.
