The best thing about Met Him at a Bar isn’t the name – it’s the food. Simple and delicious, the pastas, shrimps and meatballs I’ve had here have been consistently delicious.
Over my time there, I’ve had the EMPLOYEES ONLY (vida mezcal, montenegro, vermouth bianco), ASSISTANT TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER (gem & bolt mezcal, homemade beet syrup, lime, mint), LIMONCELLO DROP (flower-infused vodka) and the CAFFÈ CACAO (copalli cacao, la colombe espresso, curacao, kahlúa, chocolate bitters, orange zest). All of them were well crafted and outstanding.
For starters, I’ve had the pleasure of savoring the PAN SEARED GARLIC OLD BAY SHRIMP SPECIAL, the MARCONA ALMONDS (I suggest you pass on these) and the NONNA’S MEATBALLS (marinara-braised with dill and parmesan, served w/ sourdough).
For dinner, I unconsciously keep getting my favorite Italian dish: CACIO E PEPE (casarecce, parmesan, pecorino romano). It’s absolutely outstanding. Especially, as leftovers for the next day.
Dessert here is also solid. I’ve shared the HOMEMADE TIRAMISU (strawberries, whipped cream) and the LEMON GLAZED DONUT (vanilla ice cream, whipped cream).
But, perhaps the most outstanding aspect of Met Him at a Bar is the casual luxury and dynamic personality of the wait staff. I’ve had the same waitress, four months apart. Not only did she recognize me – but we got into a fantastic conversation about her fishnet stockings and how much I loved them and had been searching for something priced right, just like them.
Turns out, the key to most questions in life is Target. Target has it all.
Everyone I’ve introduced to Met Him at a Bar has absolutely loved their experience. Plus, I’ve always found easy free street parking alongside the restaurant.
