After putting our names down at Expendio de Maiz and walking to Le Labo for my birthday present of the Mexico City city scent, CORIANDRE 39, we found ourselves meandering around Roma Norte. I still had hopes for us getting a seat at Expendio de Maiz before our tacos and mescal walking tour. But, I wanted to find a place for us to sit, perhaps order a margarita or two, and relax after a rather busy day of traveling.

Something pulled me down and street and suddenly, I found myself in front of a beautiful building, decorated with gorgeous artificial flowers. Here, I thought to myself, this is where we needed to be.
After reviewing the menu of Madre Cafe at the host stand, we were seated in the courtyard.

I ordered the Watermelon Margarita and we ordered the Guacamole to share.

What arrived at our table was perfection. This was the warmest and brightest introduction to the food scene in Mexico City. And it was delicious.
Funny enough, as we sipped and relaxed with water, drinks and snacks, I received a call from Expendio de Maiz, stating that in 20 mins, two seats would be ready.
So, after settling the bill for light bites and a quick sit, we were on our way.
