Lorenzo Hotel Dallas, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is a trendy, art-filled boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Dallas, Texas
Looking for a a distinct property to stay during my time in Dallas, I zoomed in on a few properties that sparked my curiosity. I settled on Lorenzo Hotel Dallas, Tapestry Collection by Hilton because I usually enjoy the Tapestry Collection hotels, it looked the least beige and looked visually interesting.
Location
Now, if you are going to an event the convention center, the Lorenzo is a great choice. Also, it was mere minutes to get to The Saint for dinner. It’s relatively close to DFW and it comfortable for what it is.
Check In + Stay
Noticing the rather compact design of the front area of the hotel during my check in – with a small area off to the side with a communal table severing as their “lobby work area” – I asked the front desk if the hotel was a new build or a conversion. I was told that it was a converted Ramada Inn. This makes sense, in the flow and layout of the hotel. If you go in knowing this, you won’t be disappointed, as I need to stress that this is a converted Tapestry Collection hotel, vs a newer built and design like The Hoffman in Aspen, Colorado.
Entering in my room I was pleasantly pleased. I enjoy my room. Most importantly to me, the desk was perfectly economically designed. Which allowed me to write for hours – literally.
What stood out for me at this hotel is the bold art. The pieces were contemporary and modern, creating a distinct design aesthetic to the property – and to my room.
The large windows – overlooking the freeway and Dallas landscape, were also fun. I loved watching the sky change from clear, to cloudy to rain and back again across the horizon.
Parking
Parking was $20 per night in an open lot – with the option to park underground as well. As it rained both days I was here, the underground parking was a pleasure. This offered a quick elevator to the lobby, where you walk past the front desk to the guest elevators.
Overall
Overall, I was fine with my stay at the Lorenzo Hotel Dallas. There is a huge difference between Tapestry Collection hotels that were built from the ground up vs. converted. For being a former Ramada Inn, this location is fine. MUCH less claustrophobic feeling and cement blocks than the NYLO Dallas Plano Hotel, Tapestry Collection and NYLO Las Colinas Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. But it was pleasant for what I needed to do in Dallas.
