Dinner at Jont in Washington DC firmly placed the cuisine of the restaurant as one of my favorite dining experiences in the United States
As Johann and I planned our friendship trip to Washington DC to view the cherry blossoms, one of primary desires was to also pick a fantastic place for a delicious dinner.
Johann originally suggested minibar by José Andrés. However, due to popularity, he wasn’t able to secure a reservation. So, we secured the last reservation available, at 5:30pm on a Friday night at Jont.
After an absolutely visually overwhelming experience of walking among and photographing the cherry blossoms along the National Mall, I had a short rest at my hotel for the trip, Thompson Washington DC, before joining Johann at Jont.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
The service and dinner at Jont left me utterly speechless.
I was so enraptured by everything that I didn’t bother writing down any of the descriptions of the bites.
But, I did take photos of the glasses of wine for the wine pairing. They included glasses of:
Ryujin Shuzo – Junmai Daiginjo Nama Zume “Dragon God”
2021 Jörg Geiger PriSecco Cuvée NR. 7
2019 En Números Vermells – Garnatxa Blanca del Carlos
2018 J.J. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett Riesling
2021 Illahe Bon Sauvage Pinot Noir
2015 Chateau Lafon-Rochet – Saint Estephe
Dinner was an experience in oral excellence and refined service.
It’s fitting that all I have are images and memories of my experience – without descriptions. Frankly, it allowed me to live in the pleasure of the moment. In each bite, sip and taste.
After our main dining commenced, we were led to a dessert lounge in an adjacent room.
It was a seamless continuation of excellence.
What I also loved about Jont is that they had a list of favorite things to do in Washington DC.
I found this delightful to take home and note for next time.
Dinner at Jont in Washington DC was incredible, from the first bite to the wistful last.
