Hotel Indigo Waco – Baylor

Located in Waco, Texas, Hotel Indigo Waco - Baylor is a great hotel for travelers looking for a pause between destinations on I35

Looking for a great place to stay for the night while visiting family in Texas, I wanted a place that wasn’t Hotel 1928, (it was booked during my targeted dates) but still offered the amenities that I usually look for in a one night hotel stay. After a quick search of where I could best use my hotel status, I chose Hotel Indigo Waco – Baylor in Waco, Texas.

Location

I actually really enjoyed the location of Hotel Indigo Waco-Baylor. It’s off of Interstate 35 – but not overlooking it. You have easy access to everything that makes Waco fun and interesting.

Stay

I really enjoyed the look and feel of my room. I was upgraded into a PREMIUM KING room, which offered plenty of space to open my suitcase and get a real feeling of relaxation.

Service

Check in was extremely smooth. I received my usual IHG choice of points or amenity. When I inquired about a room upgrade due to my IHG status, I was easily given a room upgrade – without having to argue.

Unlike Hilton *cough* the worst – even when you have Diamond status.

Usually, when I ask a front desk person for suggestions of where to eat / their favorite places, I learn something new about the area. The front desk recommended George’s Restaurant in Waco for cuisine. However, I had my mind swayed toward the uniqueness of Cajun Craft while at Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits.

Based on my particular loyalty tier, I could choose points or a complimentary cocktail as my stay perk. I chose the drink and was so much better for it. I had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and conversing with Blake and Ian. My full review is here: Brazos Bar & Bistro.

The one thing I did not like is that housekeeping knocked on my door to start vacancy checks at 9am. at Hotel Indigo, check out is as 12 noon. Knocking twice then proceeding to use the housekeeping key to open my room gives pre Covid, 2019 vibes. Plus, I feel that it’s completely inappropriate before 10am. However, I did not let this affect my overall stay – it was just a noted minor annoyance.

In conclusion, if you are driving from Austin to parts unknown and need a place to rest for the evening, I would absolutely recommend staying at Hotel Indigo in Waco. It’s close to the vibrant downtown area of Waco and right off Interstate 35.
