Honey Hi serves up aesthetically pleasing and delicious options for breakfast and lunch - in Echo Park, California
The beauty of throwing myself into seemingly random situations is that I never know what new connection I’ll make. After meeting Reyna at Creature Comforts Brewery during the DTLA Brews & Bike Crawl by Just Ride LA, I felt she was a solid person with a great vibe. But, it was after I randomly met her and her friends again when I stopped at The Bruery for a beer tasting that we realized it was time for us to sit down for lunch.
We settled on meeting up at Honey Hi in Echo Park, a few days later.
Walking in, the vibe reminded me slightly of Kitchen Mouse Cafe and Jane, both close by in Highland Park. The menu felt well thought out – with a very clear aesthetic and tone. I appreciated it.

As Reyna got us a table outside, I ordered a cup of the CANYON COFFEE COLD BREW to wake me up. For lunch, I ordered the vibrant and colorful MISO BOWL (pasture-raised chicken thigh, jasmine rice, cabbage slaw, rainbow carrot ribbons, spicy cucumbers, daikon, cilantro, ginger chickpea miso dressing, togarashi spiced almonds).
The classic Echo Park backdrop and tasty food of Honey Hi was a warm and inviting scene as Reyna and I enjoyed a stimulating conversation ranging from evolutionary science, biology, geology and our shared love of great food and unique experiences.

It’s always a pleasure when I meet someone who just fits seamlessly into my life – at the right time and place. Lunch at Honey Hi was a great spot to vibe in while and enjoy the blossoming connection of a new potential friendship.
