H10 Palazzo Canova

The Apartment of H10 Palazzo Canova was a welcomed reprieve from the bustling atmosphere of Venice, Italy - mere feet from the Rialto bridge

Arriving to Venice from Palermo was a welcomed sight. The Venice Marco Polo Airport was simply gorgeous.  Similar to the overwhelming functional beauty of the Amsterdam airport (one of my favorite airports in Europe), it was a welcomed visual change to the frustrations I had in leaving Sicily.

Also, if you fly Wizz Airlines – just be prepared for some fuckery. Our flight was hours late without explanation. Which lead to an incredibly frustrating build up that landing in Venice immediately made me forget.

Allora….

Getting from Venice Airport to H10 Palazzo Canova

From the Venice Marco Polo Airport, I bought a one way ticket on the ALILAGUNA WATER BUS. I rode the LINEA ARANCIO (orange line) water bus to the RIALTO stop.

Entering Venice during sunset was – incredible.

It was an indescribable visual of beauty on Earth.

Sometimes, pictures simply can’t do an emotion justice.

Location

The location of the H10 Palazzo Canova is perfectly situation down from the Rialto Bridge.

I say this to also mention that it is ACROSS FROM THE RIALTO STOP, of the Alilaguna Water boat.

It is an easy walk across the bridge to the hotel. But, if you have heavy luggage, strongly consider using a water taxi. This will drop you off immediately in front of the hotel.

No, the Rialto bridge does not have an elevator system. It’s Europe.

But, there are a set of stairs BEHIND the main bridge that are a bit easier to lug a medium sized luggage bag up and down.

I had to repeatedly remind myself that I wasn’t in Las Vegas.

This was real life.

Overview of H10 Palazzo Canova

Check in at the H10 Palazzo Canova was an absolute breeze. I was greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and smiles. It was incredibly smooth, with my front desk agent also outlining recommended places for dining on a map.

Now, when I booked at H10 Palazzo Canova, I booked The Apartment – A300 – due to traveling with another friend.

This was perfect, as I absolutely loved my choice of the larger room.

The bed was deliciously comfortable, the shower was pipping hot and I fell deep into a restful sleep every night I stayed.

However, do not book The Apartment and expect “a view.” Go to the rooftop bar for that. Or, just walk out the front door of the hotel. The view from my room was the top of a building.

Breakfast

Breakfast was also delicious and filling. You can order from a selection of hot items, along with a cold buffet.

Cocktails

On my last night in Venice, I enjoyed a cocktail on the balcony. The VENICE IN LOVE (Vodka, Creme de Cassis, Lime, Lichee Liqueur, white egg) was my drink of choice.

The view of the canal was perfect for reflection and appreciation of the location.

Overall

The hotel is perfectly located for everything I wanted to do in Venice, for such a short time. Even with the Venice Regatta happening on the same weekend as my stay, I was able to see glimpses of it from the pathway to and from the hotel.

What I loved the most? The outstanding service of the front desk.

The morning I was to depart, I asked the front desk if it was possible to arrange a Venice Water Taxi to take us to the airport. This was literally the day of my flight to Paris, with the Venice Film Festival and Regatta happening the same weekend.

And they did. They grouped us with another set of people going to the airport, which dropped the price by a fourth. It was perfect.

Combined with the outstanding dinner reservations I had the front desk handle, and the service at H10 Palazzo Canova was top level.

My stay in Venice ended with one of the most glorious goodbyes I have ever experienced.
