Enjoying lunch and a beer at Figueroa Mountain Brewing was a great way to spend time in Westlake Village, California
After not seeing Michelle for years, it was an incredible treat to finally be able to carve time in both of our schedules to meet over beer and conversation in Westlake Village.

The restaurant was pleasantly empty during our arrival. This insured that we scored a table that was comfortable, cooled from air conditioning and set the tone for a relaxed vibe of lunch.

Settling in over conversation, I ordered the AGUA SANTA SALT AND LIME (4.8% – Mexican style lager with salt and lime).
The conversation was fast and furious as we caught up over the years. It’s funny – I talk to Michelle almost every week via social media. However, seeing her in person was somehow different and even more exciting than just sharing memes.
As I enjoyed my lunch order of BEER-BATTERED FISH & CHIPS (Davy Brown Ale, caper aioli, slaw), I was simply happy to enjoy a connection that had lasted for so long.
I truly appreciated seeing how happy Michelle was, how her life had developed and how happy she was with her family. Plus, it was so refreshing to converse about her life as a teacher and ask her pressing questions about social identity, society changes and how technology has molded young minds.
That’s the great thing about conversing over beers. You have the space to get truly deep in conversation about topics that truly matter. And when you can do it over delicious food, life is a joy.
