Not only was L’Ma Lodge a beautiful oasis in the desert – but the food for dinner and breakfast was as delicious as the space was gorgeous.

Dinner
To start, we enjoyed the array of green olives, black olives, peanuts and nuts on the table.

Our appetizer, a fresh Pumpkin Soup, spoke of the regional cuisine of the season.

Our shared Goat Cheese Salad (goat cheese, dates, pomegranate, fig, walnut, tomato, lettuce) reminded me of the scrumptious goat cheese dish I had at Triana Cafe and Restaurant in Chefchaouen. Combined with the light dressing made with olive oil, honey, lemon juice and assorted spices - and I was in food heaven.

The star of the dinner – a tagine of Chicken l’orange followed – in a dramatic showing of sensory pleasure.

For desert, the kitchen brought out cups of a dish that was best described as a Moroccan Raib (lime juice, milk, lime zest). It was so delicate and delicious that I opted to walk with it to the tent, to finish it in community conversation.

Breakfast
As I’d strangely had a rather strange nightmare in the middle of the night, I woke up a bit too late to enjoy the full array of L’Ma Lodge’s extensive breakfast buffet.

However, I loved the quick drive by I did of stuffing my face. The selection of fresh, house made jams – ranging from Fig, Amlou, Orange and Spices, caramel, apricots, carrots and oranges, and tomatoes and garlic looked absolutely delicious.
