Cosmic Coffee in Austin is a laid-back spot offering craft coffee, local beers, and a tranquil outdoor garden.

After handing an errand earlier in the day, I wanted to find a chill, unique coffee spot in Austin that would allow me to write and enjoy sipping a beverage for a while. Imaging my surprise to find Cosmic Coffee & Beer Garden in South Austin. The scene looked like an eclectic coffee and bar scene, with an expansive outdoor setting. So, I headed over to experience it for myself.

Immediately stepping onto the property, I felt a strong essence of sustainability, community, and creativity. Nestled in an expansive outdoor setting, Cosmic Coffee felt like a local favorite. I was in awe of the unique of the space.

The property felt like it was designed as a sustainable urban oasis, complete with rainwater harvesting, chicken coops, vegetable gardens. I loved seeing that the location was a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat.

Heading inside, I stood dumbstruck at the menu. The drinks menu is as dynamic as the space itself. Cosmic Coffee offers expertly brewed coffee, a curated selection of local craft beers, and an innovative cocktail menu. I zoomed into the spiked coffee offerings – and immediately absolutely loved that I was in Austin, Texas.

After a friendly conversation with the staff, I ordered the SPICED RUM COFFEE CHAIRMAN (Hot – Spiced Rum w/ Brew Coffee, Brown Sugar & Whipped Cream).

I took my drink outside and savored my surroundings. It was lovely to sit at my table, listen to the waterfall next to me, and be at peace.

Also, it’s not just the beverages that shine here, either—the food trucks parked around the property offer a wide range of options. After a sudden rainstorm took me inside, I inquired about the LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue truck that I’d expected to see. I was told that the truck had actually expanded into a permanent location, close by. Based on the staff’s rave reviews, I headed over for a late lunch.

My time at Cosmic Coffee was an absolute delight. In my short time, I felt that I wasn’t just at a coffee shop – I was at a community hub. Cosmic Coffee & Drinks showcased the best of South Austin’s eclectic and laid-back atmosphere, blending sustainability with a love for good drinks and community.
