Lunch at Bottega Louie was a sunlight filled delicious experience of enjoying casual Italian fare in a beautiful environment, in West Hollywood, California
It was fitting that on Juneteenth, three beautiful black women decided to meet at a stunningly gorgeous restaurant.
I arrived at Bottega Louie before Amara and Sefora. Getting my preferred seating on the outdoor patio, I was enthralled with the space, once again.
It had been much too long since I’d last had lunch there, and I was once again delighted. The natural light made everything brighter and more beautiful than I remembered.
Conversing with my server, I tasted and settled on the 2021 Grüner Veltliner, Cadre from Band of Stones in Edna Valley, California.
Once my fellow diners arrived, we commenced ordering.
I suggested that we start with a pizza – the SAUSAGE (Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, fennel sausage, San Marzano tomato sauce & Oregano Siciliano).
It was delicious and looked beautiful in the light.
Out next were the TUNA TARTARE and the FRENCH FRIES. The tartare, with the beautiful edible flowers, was visually decadent. Plus, it tasted as good as it looked.
We continued with the CEPPO GAMBER (Ceppo pasta, Gamba Langostinera prawns, grilled broccolini, oven roasted cherry tomatoes, roasted garlic & Fumet de Poisson broth) This was delicious. Plus, the broth was delicious to soak up with the pizza crust.
As we celebrated Sefora getting cast as a co-star in a film and Amara’s upcoming travels, I absolutely relished the power of food and how it brings people together.
As lunch came to a close, we enjoyed an order of the BEIGNETS with raspberry sauce and Nutella.
Soon it was time to get my favorite to go item: a selection of MACAROONS from their stunning patisserie.
I enjoyed them as I prepared for my art show at the end of the week. I took pleasure in completing various tasks and enjoying a macaroon as my reward.
And nothing was as sweeter as the final bite of Earl Grey after a job well done.

After regularly going to the Bottega Louie location in Downtown Los Angeles, I was ecstatic when the restaurant group opened a new location in West Hollywood. So, when it was time to meet Chris for a lovely, scenic lunch, it was imperative that we meet in West Hollywood to dine it out.
We split the SQUASH BLOSSOMS, which were – of course – delicious. As well as the WHITE TRUFFLE ARANCINI.
We also shared the AGNOLOTTI (Short rib, soubise, truffle pecorino, celery wild mushrooms, Reggiano & micro celery) and the CALABRESE (Calabrese salami, fennel confit, pickled Fresno chilies, fresh mozzarella, Pecorino Romano & Malibu honey) pizza.
Everything was decadent and delicious. Witty conversation flowed in the relaxing, beautiful atmosphere.
Afterward, I walked away with a few of Bottega Louie’s famous dessert delights.
It was an absolutely beautiful day in West Hollywood.
