Bone Kettle

Bone Kettle restaurant offers a myriad of delicious South Asian and Singaporean flavors - in Pasadena, California

For my monthly dinner with my creative mentor Matt, it was my turn to pick once again. I immediately picked Bone Kettle, in Pasadena. I’d been the previous year with Johann and loved it. As Matt hadn’t dined there before, it was a win-win choice.

We began with the SHISHITO PEPPERS (Citrus soy vinaigrette, toasted sesame seed). Now I will admit, Matt popped these like they were popcorn. When I tried to do the same, I got my ass handed to me. Personally, they were hot AF to my mouth. I couldn’t only eat three before I gave them all to Matt.

Next up was the FRIED CAULIFLOWER (Coconut lime aioli, roasted pinoli, savory shredded pork floss, cilantro). This was as beautiful as it was delicious.

The DRUNKEN SOBA NOODLES (Bell pepper, onion, green onion, garlic, Thai basil, Fresno chili, egg) were a repeat hit.

Finishing up dinner was the LUMPIA (Savory pork, carrots, oyster sauce sweet chill sauce) and the 36 HOUR BONE BROTH WITH FATTY BRISKET (artisanal ramen noodles, heirloom carrots, red onions & cilantro).

Another outstanding meal done right, at Bone Kettle.

On a previous visit – after a wonderful walk to Amir’s Garden and around Griffith Park, Johann and I were hungry for a delicious and filling dinner. Checking reservations, the only one that was available for a reasonable time we desired was Bone Kettle in Pasadena.

We both order the LYCHEE LEMONADE, as it was cool and refreshing.

As for food, we started with the OXTAIL TIPS (Fried oxtail tips, salted egg chips) and an order of the DOZEN OYSTERS (Daily selections – sambal cocktail sauce, seasonal mignonette & granité).

Next, came the CLAMS & DONUTS (Buttery black pepper sauce, cilantro, Fresno chili, savory Chinese donuts) and the DRUNKEN SOBA NOODLES WITH BEEF (Bell pepper, onion, green onion, garlic, Thai basil, Fresno chili, egg).
