My first lunch at the Westin Bora Bora left me wanting more culinary depth from my Bora Bora dining experience. While the meal wasn’t poor quality, it lacked the bold flavors I expected.
Fortunately, during that meal, a staff member from hotel reservations approached my table and introduced herself. As she outlined the property’s dinner options, I mentioned my interest in exploring dining at other hotels to sample the area’s broader culinary offerings.
She stepped away briefly to investigate, then returned with an intriguing suggestion: “You can take a boat to the St. Regis and dine at either Lagoon or Blossom restaurant.”
When I asked how this would work, she explained that the concierge could arrange the entire experience. After another stop to check on my bungalow availability (still not ready), I visited the concierge desk. Within minutes, I had secured dinner reservations at the St. Regis Bora Bora for the following evening.
At the designated time, I made my way to the Westin’s dock and boarded the inter-resort boat.
Upon arriving at the St. Regis, I was welcomed at the Lagoon restaurant dock, then transported by golf cart to Blossom restaurant for my reservation.

Seated, I loved the ambiance.

To start, I ordered a 30ml of the SHO CHIKU BAI JUNMAI SAKE (A very fine texture with harmonious aromas and flavors of macadamia nuts and freshly sliced bread).
I ordered the AHI TUNA MAKI (Ahi Tuna wrapped in seasoned rice and nori seaweed). This was a lovely appetizer that reminded me of ordering sushi at home in Los Angeles. I relished the sharp burn of wasabi to awaken my palate and add some intensity to the flavors.
My main dish, the CHICKEN KUNG PAO (chicken, vegetables, Sichuan pepper, cashew nuts and sesame), arrived shortly after. The first bite confirmed I had made the right decision to venture to the St. Regis for dinner.
Every element of the dish was perfectly executed, and I savored each bite.
I was grateful I had asked the manager about the water taxi schedule. When she mentioned the 9:45pm departure, I must have looked alarmed since it was only 8:10pm – that felt like an eternity to wait.
“Let me see if they can arrange an earlier pickup,” she offered.
When she returned with news that I could catch the 8:30pm boat, I was delighted. After settling the bill and requesting my remaining food to go, the manager graciously walked me to the dock.
Boarding the return boat to the Westin Bora Bora, I felt grateful for the entire experience. Having world-class dining options just a short boat ride away made exploring Bora Bora’s culinary scene remarkably accessible and enjoyable.
Also, the experience reinforced my satisfaction with staying at the Westin rather than the St. Regis – the latter’s clientele skewed heavily toward an older demographic that wasn’t quite my scene.
