Atay Cafe

Atay Cafe in Marrakesh features sweeping rooftop views and Moroccan dishes like tagines and salads in a relaxed and comfortable setting

After a wonderful morning of walking the alleys in Marrakesh (Walking the Streets of Marrakesh: the Medina, Dar El Basha, Madrasa Ben Youssef and more with Soufiane Adnane), it was rightfully time for lunch. When Soufiane led us to Atay Cafe, I was immediately taken by the scents and the overall vibe of the area.

Fran and I split the Assortment of Moroccan Bruschetta (Moroccan salad, zaalouk, guacamole, grilled vegetables). Which was absolutely refreshing.

I absolutely savored the Lamb tagine (plum, almond) while sipping the Avocado, Orange and Date smoothie. There’s something wonderful about dates in Morocco. They are completely different than what I’ve enjoyed in California.

Of course, Melaine requested a little bowl of Harissa, which we both loved slathering on our dishes.

When Kim asked who of us wanted hot spiced coffee, I immediately raised my hand. When it arrived, it was the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful lunch, overlooking the buildings of Marrakesh.
