Andaz Dubai The Palm – A Concept by Hyatt

Staying at the Andaz Dubai the Palm - The Palm Jumeirah was a great starting point to discover the highlights of Dubai

Arriving back to Dubai after spending time at the Conrad Maldives, I was more than happy to see how my second arrival would differ from the first. Luckily, Marhaba meet and greet service actually worked flawlessly this time –  and we were on our way to the Andaz Dubai The Palm, after safely collecting our bags, in no time at all.

The ways in which I loved my time at the Andaz Dubai are… too numerous to count.

I absolutely LOVED this hotel. Frankly, it’s one of my favorite hotels in the world, based on the room design. Simply put, I greatly enjoy the Andaz brand of hotels by Hyatt.

Location

The Andaz Dubai The Palm is located at the base of The Palm Jumeirah Dubai, not on a frond. The chaffered drive from the airport was not bad, at all. In fact, I was shocked by how literally normal everything looked. Because we traveled in November, it was extremely comfortable outside and not that hot at all.

Checking in, our room wasn’t ready. However, after a week’s stay at the Conrad Maldives – Rangali Island (or, hotel island jail as I fondly recalled to friends) I was more than happy to literally sit in the The Locale at Andaz Dubai and just be around people and incredibly reasonable pricing for food menu items.

The United Arab Emirates Dirham was a glorious, harmonious, happy exchange rate to the United States Dollar. It was like night and day difference between Dubai and the Maldives.

Stay

The suite was beautiful, comfortable and everything I could wish for. The welcome chocolates were perfect. The view was – a city view. But, loved it just the same. I honestly wished I’d planned the trip for just one more night at the Andaz Dubai The Palm. I loved it that much.

From the two bathrooms, the beautiful and comfortable living room, to the beautiful bedroom – *chef’s kiss*.

From the hotel, it was easy to get to the Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates (This is the mall with the indoor ski area)  and the Dubai Mall (giant ice skating rink).

Also, I loved being able to have coffee and chocolates while watching an episode of Succession (why this is my favorite hotel kink, no idea) in the living room, as my partner slept.

Overall

I absolutely loved staying at the Andaz Dubai The Palm. But then again, I love all of the Andaz properties I’ve stayed at, within the Hyatt brand.

Overall, I would have absolutely loved to spend more time at Andaz Dubai The Palm, and just in this area of Dubai, in general. I loved the vibrancy of the city, the contrast of what I expected vs what I actually experience and just – the richness of the environment. You realize that there is a whole section of the world that you really aren’t exposed to, with an unbiased eye, via American media.

A few weeks after this trip, while returning to Los Angeles from a personal photography trip of the Grand Tetons in Jackson, Wyoming, I got into a fantastic conversation with my seat mate that actually shifted my life.

We got into a ravishing conversation about his family trip to Costa Rica, which actually inspired me to book a trip the following year in Costa Rica for my birthday. In addition, we got into a conversation about my then recent trip to Dubai and how much I wanted to go back and explore the Dubai Conversation Area again. He said that he’d heard that the Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai was phenomenal.

So I would say, if I could replan this trip, I would have started with three nights at the Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai with planned activities in the Dubai Conversation Area. Then, done three nights in Maldives. Finally, ending with  three nights in Dubai with a day trip to Abu-Dhabi.
