There are some things around group travel that I’m rather particular about. Where I stay is one of them. After a day which included – From Fes to the Sahara: Ifrane, Cedar Forest Monkeys, Berber Culture, and the Dunes of Erg Chebbi and A Taste of Tradition: Sharing Lunch and Music with a Nomadic Moroccan Berber Family in Âit Qufella, I was ready for a very relaxing night.
When our driver pulled into the driveway of Riad Serai after 8 hours on the road, all I could think was “Hell yes”.
It was absolutely gorgeous.

Check In
Immediately, upon disembarking from the Mercedes van and walking through the doors, I had one thought in my mind: this is what I mean when I say “Take me to the desert”. This was the perfect idea of my desire to be in the Sahara. It smelled wonderful, due to fragrance diffusers places throughout the indoor garden area. The decor was beautiful and I was ready to take a shower after check in.
Rashid took care to make sure that rooms were assigned accordingly, with our bags placed next to our door.

Room + Stay
Stepping into my single bed bedroom – Almond – I was awash in visual comfort. This was desert luxury.
Immediately, I felt a sense of relaxation wash over me. The 8 hour van ride from Fes? That happened? For this, it was all worth it.

As I showered and got ready for the evening’s meal, I was relaxed, clean and comfortable. With the day of travel behind me, I felt ready for what was to come.
The Restaurant at Riad Serai
All of my meals – as covered in Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at Riad Serai – were deeply filling and delicious. Alongside dining at Culture Box in Fes, I’d rank the cuisine at Riad Serai among my top picks of my time in Morocco.

Overall
Overall, I didn’t feel a sense of loss for not going swimming, as I went Riding 4×4 Quad Bikes on the Sahara with Merzouga Trails Quads & Buggy Excursion.
Truly, my time at Riad Serai only made me look forward to my next visit.
