After a full day of rewarding conversation and strategic marketing planning with Traci, dinner was calling. And really – when in Tennessee, barbecue feels like the only right answer.
After some back and forth, Traci, Matt, and I landed on Edley’s Bar-B-Que.

The place immediately struck me as an authentic Nashville barbecue joint.
Reading the menu, I paused over the description of “Nashville style”: cayenne dry rub paired with a fiery habanero pepper barbecue sauce. I wondered if I could handle what was in store.
We all loved the FRIED PICKLES (addictive fried pickle chips with housemade ranch), shared among us.

I will say – when my BRISKET SANDWICH (red BBQ sauce & pickles). Double R Ranch beef brisket smoked for 10+ hours) arrived in front of me, along with the two seasonal sides of the BANANA PUDDING and the COLLARD GREENS – to say I was excited was an understatement.

The flavors were incredible. But – true to form – I sabotaged myself by mixing in a few generous squirts of the spicy barbecue sauce with the regular. Within minutes, I was back in familiar territory: mouth on fire, spice tolerance betrayed.
Sigh. Lesson not learned from Prince’s Hot Chicken.
Still, the banana pudding doubled as dessert and antidote, and soon I was back to enjoying the plate in front of me. Every bite was a delicious medley of flavor, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the experience.
