Landing in Billings and getting my rental car, there was only one thing on my mind: food. As I’d been up since 4:30am and had two segmented flights to Montana – and another two hours to Sheridan, Wyoming – it was time for lunch.
While in Denver, I reached out to Gene to get any recommendations he had for dining options. Immediately, he suggested The Burger Dive in Billings, Montana.
After a shorter than I expected drive from the airport, I arrived to The Burger Dive.

And – frankly it looked like a 1950s standard dive. But, my curiosity was well rewarded once I stepped inside.

Everyone was so incredibly friendly. I immediately felt at home and comfortable. If this was a taste of Billings, I was excited for what was to come.

I tasted two local beers to compare – and decided to get a pint of Canyon Creek Brewing’s Fuzz Beer (Hefeweizen with peach puree). I absolutely loved the light flavor with a hint of peach.

When THE “DATE WITH JIM BEAM AND COKE” BURGER (World Food Championships “Burger Champion” burger, bourbon date and coke barbecue sauce, roasted garlic, arugula, smoked gouda, garlic basil mayo) with half onion rings and half parmesan garlic fries arrived, I was ready. Plus, my server gave me some delicious dipping sauces to try: Ranch, Sriracha aioli, and caramel aioli.

Caramel aioli? I was skeptical when he introduced it to me. However, he said that the sweetness and cinnamon would be a delicious combo, Plus, they used it mostly for the sweet potato fries.
So, I tried it – to delicious results.
Everything I ordered and enjoyed at The Burger Dive was exactly what I needed to get grounded, centered and ready for my drive ahead to Wyoming.
