After our time at Outer Range Brewing, it was time for Rosemary and I to try another brewery. Based on the recommendation we received while at the Keystone Gondola Experience, we made our way to Highside Brewing & BBQ.
Since I was still satisfied from our excellent lunch, I had no interest in the barbecue offerings. Instead, I concentrated on exploring their beer selection to find options worth sampling.

When I inquired about beer flights, they confirmed they offered them. The staff handed me a chalk pen and instructed me to write my selections directly on the tasting board.
I ordered a nice assortment:
- GOSE WITH THE CURRANT (4.2% ABV – Gose with Watermelon and Red Currant)
- HIGHSIDE MEXICAN CANDY (5.8% ABV – Sour with Mango, Chamoy, and Chill Blend)
- 173 STEPS (5.6% ABV – Pale Hoppy Lager)
- BANANA SPLIT BOARD STOUT ( 5% ABV – Stout)
- NIGHT SKIING (5.7% ABV – Stout – Milk / Sweet)
- HOOSIER TIKI (4.9% ABV – Pineapple Hefewelzen)
The Gose With The Currant And the Highside Mexican Candy were not my favorites, by far. The Gose tasted like an extremely sour Sweet Tart candy. With the Highside Mexican Candy, Rosemary and I both thought that it needed a lime and Tajin to balance out the sour tartness.
The 173 Steps was a classic, delicious IPA. The Banana Split Board Stout was perhaps my favorite. The banana flavor was strong and delicious. This was a beer that I could easily order a pint of, during a longer stay. Same with the Night Skiing and Hoosier Tiki.

Overall, our stop at Highside Brewing was a nice sojourn in Frisco, Colorado. It’s nice to get a deeper sense of the Colorado brewery landscape to top off a rather rewarding and fun day.
